Stephen N: He’s a Connecticut transplant and a GWU alumni with a solid sense of style. I met Stephen for the first time this weekend prior to him coming across my radar when looking for new people to spotlight on the blog. As we shot in the – still snow covered – neighborhood of Georgetown Proper, we chatted about are our freshman year horror stories and compared notes on the great – and miserable – classes of semesters past. Wearing a number of cool pieces with similar shades of red (thank God it’s not grey for once), Stephen’s look was one of the more fun outfits that I’ve had the opportunity to shoot. Let’s be honest, how many people can rock a pair of Stubbs like those and make it look effortless?
“I would call my style put-together preppy with an edge – I tend towards comfortable, casual looks that say “I’m from Connecticut, but I like to be a little different.” When I get dressed, I try to pick one or two items with some personality, whether it’s a great shoe or a beautiful scarf, and then keep everything else pretty simple. Sometimes I’ll go a little more avant-garde and others I’ll epitomize New England prep – it just comes down to the Stephen that I want to be that day – that’s the fun part of fashion.”
