MIAMI GUIDE

Last month I (spontaneously) went to Miami for a long weekend.  While I still came back to DC whiter than rice, I did stop into some awesome restaurants and a couple cool shops worth noting.

#1 One  //  National Hotel  //  1677 Collins Avenue

I stay at the National Hotel right in the heart of South Beach.  The outdoor pool space was awesome and even though I hate sand, it was nice to have direct access to the beach.  Pro-tip: Book on the Hotels Tonight app - saved hundreds off the room I got.

#2 Two  //  Yarbird  //  1600 Lenox Ave

One of the best meals I had.  Yardbird is this southern-inspired restaurant just West of South Beach.  Highly recommend the chicken and biscuits, fried green tomatoes, and breakfast skillet.  Brunch cocktails were great too.

#3 Three  //  David Castillo  //  420 Lincoln Rd

Cool art gallery City Center - a strip of stores, restaurants, and shops.

#4 Four  //  Big Pink  //  157 Collins Ave

This place was incredible.  The place is pretty small and had a line out the door when I got there.  Ended up nabbing a seat at the bar because of how long the wait was.  The menu is huge and was recommended the grilled cheese by a reader (above).  It was double layered with about half a dozen pieces of thickly cut bacon and tomatoes.  I didn't eat for the rest of the day.

#5 Five  //  The Cafe at Books & Books  //  927 Lincoln Rd

One of the other places I stopped into at the City Center.  Really cool bookshop with some smaller, unique authors.  They also have great coffee.  PS: My full reading list can be found here.

#6 Six  //  Taquiza  //  1506 Collins Ave

Best.  Tacos.  Ever.  This place is a little shack on the main drag of South Beach.  If it hadn't started pouring after taking this picture, I would have ordered another three.  100% must try.
